:: ALFA posts record-tying quarterly EBITDA
- For a second quarter in a row, ALFA reports U.S. $290 million EBITDA
- 2009 EBITDA amounts to U.S. $ 1,055 million, the highest in its history
- Net Income totals U.S. $134 million in the quarter, U.S. $157 million for the year

Monterrey, N.L., Mexico, January 27, 2010.- ALFA, S.A.B. de C.V. (ALFA), the Mexican industrial company based in this city, reported its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2009. The release highlights that, for a second quarter in a row, the company generated an EBITDA of U.S. $290 million, for a total of U.S. $1,055 million in 2009, a company record.

“As we announced a few weeks ago, our fourth quarter results confirmed that 2009 has been the best year ever for our company in terms of EBITDA”, said Dionisio Garza, ALFA’s Chairman of the Board and CEO. “Our success is based on the strategic strengths of our businesses, as well as the measures we took to boost efficiency and productivity, in light of the economic crisis of 2009”, added Mr. Garza.

In 4Q09, ALFA had a Net Majority Income of U.S. $134 million, for a cumulative figure of U.S. $157 million, the report notes. It also states that through bond issues at several of its subsidiaries, plus the refinancing of subsidiary company Nemak, ALFA extended the average life of its debt from 1.8 to 4.2 years.
