:: ALFA reports another very good quarterly result

Revenues increased 36% vis-à-vis 1Q09.
EBITDA amounts to U.S. $ 281 million, the third highest quarterly amount ever.

San Pedro Garza García, N.L., Mexico. April 20, 2010.- ALFA, S.A.B. de C.V. (ALFA), the Mexican industrial company based in this city, released today its financial results for the first quarter of 2010. The report highlights that the company once again achieved excellent results. Revenues totaled U.S. $ 2,511 million, 36% higher than the figure for the same period of 2009. EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) was U.S. $281 million, the third highest figure in the history of the company, and 34% more than the same quarter of 2009.

"Quarterly results were driven by the solid performance reported in all our business groups", said Alvaro Fernandez, President of ALFA. " Alpek and Nemak stand out; the first, because it obtained an EBITDA above the U.S. $100 million for the fifth consecutive quarter, and the second, because its EBITDA reached U.S. $95 million, exceeding the record set in the previous quarter", he added.

The report also notes that ALFA’s majority net income amounted U.S. $88 million, compared to a majority net loss of U.S. $99 million reported in the first quarter of 2009. Also, that the financial situation of the company remains very solid with a Net Debt to EBITDA ratio of 2.3 times, and Interest Coverage of 4.0 times.

"First quarter results are in line with our expectations for the year as a whole. Our companies have a strong position to continue capitalizing on the economic recovery expected to continue in the markets where we participate", concluded Alvaro Fernandez.
